The Ford Mustang was the vision of Lee Iacocca, who was Ford’s General Manager in 1964. He had envisioned a small sports car to be the next hot muscle car in street races. The Ford Mustang Cobra – Big Changes in 2001

This is ford mustang history for cobra generation.

While the 1999 model of the Ford Cobra underwent some changes, it was not until 2001 that the big changes came about. From top to bottom, inside and out, the Ford Cobra got a face-lift. Formerly a Teksid, the engine block was changed to the Windsor Aluminum Plant, also known as the WAP block. A few 2001 models did receive the Teksid from the factory or as a replacement motor, but most come with the WAP. Ford Mustang History and Development 1998 – Round Body Mustang 1998 was the last year of the “Round Body Mustang” and the only year that the “Sports” package was offered by the manufacturer. 1992 Ford Mustang Sales Hit an All Time Low As the Mustang generation seemed to be outgrowing the pony, sales hit an all time low of 79,280 for the model year. Ford’s one consolation was that the Pontiac Firebird and the Chevy Camero were doing even worse in sales. Nevertheless, sales were steady if nothing else and the Mustang was still ahead of the pack. Ford Mustang History and Development 1991 to 1993 – SVT Cobra Looking back at the Ford Mustang and its progression it seems that there were times that there were very few changes from year to year. This is especially true in the early 1990s. In 1991, the only change that we can note is the new five spoke 16? wheels that both the LX and the GT had.
